Okay, this is a personal story about how transcripts can help.

Just saying? The Proof is in the Pudding

We had a meeting about this blog – a few of us in a quiet room snacking on cashews and coming up with some helpful topics for our clients and potential clients. I took careful notes.

Well, I do work for a transcribing company, specializing in audio to text transcription services with super-fast rush turnaround, and someone said why don’t we record the meeting, transcribe the audio, and make a document we can share. Why not? So we recorded it on an Apple iPad, and uploaded the file via Google Drive.

Well, honestly I thought I didn’t need to read the transcript because I had my notes. But guess what? When I read the transcript (which was verbatim and included all the “likes” that are necessary to come up with really good ideas) there were lots of ideas that did not make it into my notes, spins on things that didn’t make it to my “list,” and little leads that now I’m going to follow up on. I’m not joking! I’m not just advertising! This was a pretty casual meeting and not high stakes, but the transcript really made a difference, cashews and all. Just saying.
